BED
& BREAKFAST HISTORY
Heinrick built the
cabin in 1890 after purchasing 130 acres of land from his
brother Wilhelm, who immigrated to Fredericksburg in 1880.
Heinrick immigrated in 1883 from Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.
Heinrick’s first
wife was Elise Scharnhorst. She gave birth to twin boys who
died in infancy. Heinrick and Elise subsequently gave birth
to a girl whom they named Meda. A few years later, in 1900,
Elise died during the childbirth of twin girls. One twin lived,
and was named Elise after her mother.
Seven years later,
Heinrick remarried to Hulda Gellerman. Along with Meda and
Elise, Heinrick and Hulda raised four more children: Victor,
Edwin, Emrie and Helga. Many of these children still reside
in the area.
