Raven 2013

The 2013 Raven is a most aromatic blend of Malbec and Petit Verdot - a nod to the style of Malbecs made in the Mendoza area of Argentina. This vintage displays a highly concentrated body, as well as good tannic structure.
The spicy quality of the Malbec displays itself as brown spice - think allspice and nutmeg. The Petit Verdot exhibits notes of violet and heady scented geranium complementing the spicy quality of the Malbec. It finishes with lingering light notes of rose and pepper.
The grapes for this Texas star are all from the Hill Country and through that we come to a better understanding of the mineral quality of this growing region. The deep rich colors come from grape clusters that produced very small berries allowing a much higher skin to juice ratio. This vintage was aged for 16 month prior to bottling.
Aromatics: Vanilla, violets and allspice with notes of rose
On the palate: Mild tobacco, brown spice, red raspberry
Pairing: Rich beef, roast wild game, pork and veal
This wine is not discountable due to limited production.
