Our 2014 Reserve Tempranillo is a blend of outstanding Tempranillo vineyards from the Texas High Plains. This wine was aged predominately in American Oak. When making a Tempranillo, the blending trials are always the most fun and interesting portion of the wine making process. This vintage was no exception. More than 15 different trials were blended before landing on what we felt was the quintessential Texas Tempranillo.

This wine has plenty of lift in the body to carry the flavors of dried red fruit, mocha and mineral with an overtone of brown spice and dried cherries. It then gives way to notes of black pepper, dried thyme and hints of sweet woodruff just around the edge. This wine will lay down for an easy 5 years or drink now when that perfect meal is beckoning.

Aromatics: Dried red fruit, bright cherries, fig, herbs and mocha

On the palate: Currant, tobacco/coffee with mineral and oak

Pairing: Try with lamb, grilled veggies or hard aged cheese
