Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Wilmeth Vineyards 2017
This single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, grown by Jet and Gay Wilmeth of Diamante Doble Vineyard in Tokio, TX, is a fine example of West Texas terrior. Hot days and cool nights provide the ripeness and balanced tannic structure, while the dry, earthiness is redolent of the West Texas red soil.
2017 was a banner year for grape growing and winemaking. Mother Nature gave us a beautiful growing season, allowing fruit to ripen, maintaining acidity levels, and developing this decadent fruit-forward wine.
Aromatics: Violets, vanilla, caramel, dark cherry and black currants
On the Palate: Dark cherries, tea, and creamy notes with lingering minerality, and dark plum compote

This Wilmeth Cab is full-stop my favorite wine these days! When our quarantine period started I course corrected and started drinking my favorite wines instead of saving them.. and had to re-order more Wilmeth Cab! If you haven't tried it, order without reservation!

My sentiments exactly, why save the good stuff. Now's the time, if not now, when?

This is exactly what I would expect from an excellent cab. It was full-bodied without tasting "thick", and had that amazing vanilla aroma that I love. The slight minerality put me more in mind of a true French cabernet, as opposed to some of the newer styles. All-in-all, you cannot go wrong with this if you're a fan of the varietal.

I thought this was very light for a cab. It had the mineral taste I found with other High Plains TX cabs, but for $50 I expected more.
